Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
1. Introduction
This policy explains what personal data OpenApps ("we", "us") handles on openapps.network and through the two lists on it (the Beam waitlist and the builders' list), why, and what you can do about it. We wrote it to be read.
It covers this website only. Each OpenApps app has its own site and its own privacy page, which says what that app does with your data; most of them keep your files on your own device.
2. Our role
For the data described here, we decide why and how it is used. In the language of data protection law, we are the controller.
3. What we collect and why
| What | Where it comes from | Why we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | You type it into one of the two forms | To write to you about the list you joined: when Beam is ready, or about building with us |
| Which list you joined: the Beam waitlist, the builders' list, or both | The form you used | To send you the right message |
| The site you joined from and the time | Recorded when you join | To keep the list in order |
| Your IP address, your browser's description and the pages requested | Our web server's log | To keep the site running and to stop abuse |
Neither list stores your IP address with your email. To stop the forms being flooded, the service behind them counts recent attempts per IP address in memory, and forgets them when it restarts.
About this website. Page views on this site are counted by a self-hosted, privacy-preserving analytics service. It sets no cookie, records no personal data, and does not follow you to other sites. The site shows no ads, and its fonts, pictures and clips come from our own server.
We do not buy data about you, and we do not build a profile of you.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your email address with anyone for their own use. It is seen by:
- Our hosting provider, which runs the server the waitlist and this site live on.
- Our own team. When someone joins, our team gets a notification in a private Telegram group. It shows only the first letter of the address and its domain (for example j•••@example.com), never the whole address.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
- A successor, if OpenApps is ever merged or sold. The list would stay under the promises on this page, and we would tell you first.
5. Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Write to contact@openapps.network from the address you joined with, and we will act within 30 days.
Joining a list is not a newsletter subscription. On the Beam waitlist we will write about Beam being ready; on the builders' list, about building with us. Nothing else, unless you ask for more.
6. Children
This site is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has joined a list, write to us and we will delete the address.
7. Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection. The lists are kept on a server only our team can sign in to, and they are not copied into other tools. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.
8. How long we keep it
- The Beam waitlist: until Beam has launched and we have written to you, or until you ask us to delete your address, whichever comes first.
- The builders' list: until you ask us to delete your address, or until we close the list.
- Web server logs: 90 days, then they are deleted.
9. Other sites
This page links to our apps' sites, to our sign-in page, to GitHub and to our account on X. Each has its own privacy terms, and this policy does not cover them.
10. Automated decisions
We make no automated decisions about you with this data.
11. Where you live
Depending on where you live, the law gives you rights over your personal data: for example Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, or the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. Under those laws:
- We keep your email address because you asked us to, by joining a list (your consent). You can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete the address.
- We keep web server logs because we need them to run the site safely (our legitimate interest).
- You can ask for access, correction, deletion or a copy of your data, and you can object to how we use it.
- Our server may be in a different country from yours. Wherever it is, the promises on this page apply.
- You can complain to the data protection authority where you live. We would like the chance to put things right first.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If a change affects what we do with the lists, we will write to the people on them before it takes effect.
13. Contact
